Sushil Kumar Singh is one of the biggest names in the world of wrestling.Sushil Kumar has won a Silver Medal in 2012 London Olympics and a Bronze in 2008 Bejing Olympics with many other gold medals and silver medals to his name which he had won in several major tournaments.Now The Hindustan times is reporting that Sushil Kumar is currently in negotiations with WWE.It was further added that WWE’s head of talent development Canyon Ceman is currently scheduled to meet Sushil Kumar today(Saturday).Most likely these talks may result in Sushil signing up a contract with WWE or have a franchise opening up to trainees of Chhatrasal Stadium (the place where Sushil trains).
In addition to this Raman Raheja, the personal commercial manager of Sushil Kumar stated that “We are exploring all options for Sushil to get into professional wrestling and are in talks with WWE,”.
Seriously speaking Sushil was sort of unhappy with the way WFI treated him when he asked for trails for Rio Olympics where WFi went on to reject his proposal of trails and would further send Narsingh Yadav who was in the controversy of doping at that point of time and later on the day of bout at Rio Narsingh was banned for doping and a ban of 4 years was imposed on Narsingh.Sushil was in the best form of his life at that point of time having won a bronze in 2008 , a silver in 2012 London Games and a Gold medal in 2014 Glasgow but was still ruled out and Narsingh Yadav was picked over him leading to a lot of controversies.
Furthermore, Sushil has stated that he would skip the PWL this year and further went on to say that “It is not possible for me to be a part of PWL, after the way WFI officials treated me during the Narsingh controversy. On top of that, I don’t believe in the PWL concept and will skip it, definitely.” Which clearly shows us how frustrated he is with the WFI.
Sushil also met Kurt Angle(1996 Olympic Gold medalist,Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion,Former TNA World Heavyweight Champion) nearly 3 years ago where both Sushil and Kurt discussed Sushil's career. Kurt Angle stated that Sushil might give a try in the world of MMA in the future.
So will Sushil sign with WWE?
Note:The views expressed below are those of our head writer Tejaswi Guttina and do not reflect the opinions of Wrestling viewers or it's staff.I'd say from my experience that don't take these reports seriously as there have been numerous reports in the past which stated that WWE would sign some of the Indian wrestlers but in reality there were not even few negotiations between the parties example for such instances were Rajesh Kumar who were hyped soo much by the local media and now people don't even know what he is doing.
However, if Sushil Kumar does end up signing with WWE it would at least take nearly a year and a half for him to make his debut which means he should be making his debut by the end of 2017 or early part of 2018 and moreover the contract will run into crores easily if both parties agree with each other.
